CFX, the World’s First Crypto Exchange, Inaugurates CFX Tower

Jakarta, February 15, 2024 – PT Bursa Komoditi Nusantara, known as CFX, proudly announces the inauguration of CFX Tower, the first dedicated crypto exchange building in Indonesia, located at Jalan Gatot Subroto Number 35-36, South Jakarta. CFX Tower was inaugurated by CFX’s Chief Executive Officer Subani, the Secretary of the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti) Olvy Andrianita, and attended by industry leaders, investors, and crypto market participants.

Subani, CEO of CFX, stated, “The inauguration of CFX Tower marks a significant milestone for the crypto industry in Indonesia and is expected to symbolize the growth of the domestic crypto market. We believe this building will become a hub for crypto asset innovation and will help Indonesia emerge as a leader in the crypto market in Asia.”

Crypto adoption in Indonesia continues to grow and can even compete globally. Quoting from Chainalysis’ report titled The 2023 Global Crypto Adoption Index: Central & Southern Asia Are Leading the Way in Grassroots Crypto Adoption, Indonesia ranks seventh in terms of the highest crypto adoption rate, alongside countries like India in first place, Nigeria in second, Vietnam in third, and the United States in fourth.

“Indonesia, with its large population, represents a significant potential market for crypto asset growth. To nurture this growth, CFX, as the world’s first regulated crypto exchange, collaborates with regulators, industry players, and associations to strengthen the crypto investment climate in Indonesia, particularly in terms of security and investor protection, as the number of crypto investors continues to rise,” said Subani.

According to data from Bappebti, the number of crypto asset customers since the regulation of crypto assets by Bappebti until November 2023 reached 18.25 million customers, while crypto asset traders who have obtained Registration Marks as Prospective Physical Traders of Crypto Assets (CPFAK) from Bappebti amounted to 33 companies. The total crypto transaction value in 2023 was recorded at Rp122 trillion.

In terms of regulations, particularly the authority for supervising crypto assets, in 2025 will shift from Bappebti to the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Bank Indonesia (BI) in accordance with Law No. 4/2023 concerning Strengthening and Developing the Financial Sector, regulation, development, and supervision of crypto assets and financial derivatives.

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was conducted by CFX’s Chief Executive Officer, Subani, and the Secretary of the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti), Olvy Andrianita, at CFX Tower in Jakarta, on Thursday (15/2/2024)

To support the strengthening of the crypto industry ecosystem, the presence of CFX Tower is designed to become a center for crypto trading and innovation in Indonesia. This building will not only serve as the home for the crypto exchange but is also expected to become a hub for crypto industry players and the crypto asset community in Indonesia.
