Study by LPEM FEB UI Reveals the Vast Potential of Crypto Asset Trading

A study by the Institute for Economic and Social Research, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (LPEM FEB UI) found that crypto assets have the potential to enhance financial inclusion depth in Indonesia, particularly by providing the public with access to digital investments in small denominations. The survey revealed that there is still a need for incentives to further encourage the use of legal platforms, including expanding the variety of crypto assets through stablecoins and tokenization, as well as setting competitive tax rates. Uncompetitive tax rates could drive users to migrate to illegal platforms.
President Director of PT Central Finansial X (CFX), Subani, stated that the study's findings could serve as momentum for Bursa CFX to collaborate more closely with regulators, in this case, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and other stakeholders in supporting the formulation of effective policies. "We will continue to strengthen literacy and education to build consumer trust and the importance of transacting on legal platforms. We will also accelerate product innovation, such as derivative products, tokenization of real-world assets (RWA), and the use of crypto assets as loan collateral, to enhance market competitiveness. We are optimistic that this synergy will maximize the industry’s contribution to the national economy in the future," said Subani.
